The 2023 European Open will take place from July 20 to 23 in Nokia, Finland at the Nokia DiscGolfPark. The location used to be known as “The Beast,” should it sound unfamiliar.
This year, unlike in years past, current Disc Golf Network (DGN) subscribers will have access to all four rounds of coverage of the European Open without any additional, pay-per-view payment.
The Presidents Cup is included in this coverage, as well.
If you’re not a DGN subscriber (and don’t care to be), you have the option of buying a one-off, pay-per-view package for the European Open for $24.99. Furthermore, do remember that all PDGA members qualify for a 50% discount on the monthly DGN subscription option, too.
Interested in going the European-only route?
Here’s what you can expect:
- Live, dual-division coverage of all four rounds of the European Open.
- Expanded, live coverage of three European-Open holes in a second stream.
- And again, live coverage of the Presidents Cup – a separate, team-based event.
There’s more to keep in mind with this, though …
The DGN is the ONLY place to watch live coverage of the European Open. In fact, before each round, “Tournament Central” will be the one piece of live content on DGN’s YouTube channel.
That’s it.
If you’re more a post-produced consumer of disc golf coverage, the week of the actual event, the only place to find it will be the DGN. JomezPro will be in Finland for post-produced, lead-card coverage of both the MPO and FPO fields. Serving as a DGN partner of the PDGA EuroTour, MDG Media will be there, as well. The company will handle post-produced, chase-card action.
For free, starting on August 8, post-produced coverage will be made available on both entities’ YouTube channels. While that will work for some, do note that’s 16 days after the conclusion of the European Open. And while the 16-day delay isn’t ideal, it’s down from 30 days in 2022.
Here’s another fun tidbit: GK Pro’s OTB Tour Skins will make the trek to Nokia to film. If you subscribe to the DGN or pay for one-off coverage of the European Open, you’ll be able to watch the action on July 25. Should you choose to wait, you can see it on YouTube on August 1.
The skinny of the European Open?
If you want in, in some way, subscribe to the DGN.
Otherwise, stay off social media …
Lame.
