Star is arguably the most popular of Innova’s polymers …
The Destroyer mold’s played a sizable role in making that happen.
So if there’s something similar out there, you’d want to know about it, right?
Echo Star plastic is that thing.
Yes, there are others, but they’re more aesthetic than anything: Halo Star, Swirly Star, Shimmer Star and even Splatter Star – maybe there’s an Innova collab in there somewhere with that last one. StarLite is yet another Star Variant – and it gets beyond mere sex appeal, too. While the others offer little more than an uptick in eye candy, StarLite discs are light and less beefy …
They’re also out of production.
* Note: Before you blow a gasket, GStar exists. I just don’t believe in it – click here.
But back to the Echo Star stuff …
What’s the deal?
Echo Star Plastic is meant to be a more eco-friendly alternative to normal Star polymers. To that end, each Echo Star batch is created from at least 50% reprocessed plastic. Flight-wise, they tend to start out a touch less overstable than their stock-Star counterparts. And the general consensus is that Echo Star durability follows suit – it’s close, but maybe a bit easier to beat in, as well.
The grip, though?
It’s better – and right out of the box.
The biggest problem with Echo Star discs, however, is that there aren’t nearly as many runs of ‘em as there used to be. But while there’s an air of rarity with Echo Star frisbees, please …
Don’t pay extra for them.
Even amongst the most die-hard of Innova fans, it’s widely accepted Echo Star plastic is more marketing than anything. Less waste is nice, but golf discs are still oil-based products …
Don’t kid yourself: Greta Thunberg’s hardly impressed.
The touch of extra grip IS a bonafide selling point, though.
The Boss, Wraith, Destroyer and Katana – it’s usually high-speed drivers that Dave Dunipace gives the Echo Star treatment. Occasionally, you’ll see a fairway or two get some attention: The Leopard and Teebird come to mind. If you’re at all intrigued, keep your eyes peeled …
Should one of your go-to molds pop up, it’s worth a shot.

I’ve been throwing the “bee” for 56 years, since i was 10 years old. Started disc golf about mid July of 2020. Wish i would of started many years ago❗Can’t get enough of it 🤪👉🥏 I’ve done quite well though. A mess of birdies, 1 eagle & 4 aces. Not 2 bad for an “old dude” 🤣🤣🤣 Would like 2 know the best grip for throwing & how i can possibly increase my distance. I finally went over 300′ (306′) last year. Any tips would “bee” much appreciated. THANX‼️ 👊😎👍
Sure thing, Dan!
For distance, start with the basics: http://bit.ly/3ZvIZQC
If you’ve just cracked 300 feet, you don’t need anything to extreme to improve …
But when you do, check out this guy’s YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/3Zabjb8
And lastly …
When you talk grip, are you talking about grip for distance?
Or just any kind of grip?
LMK – happy to provide more information!
Thanks for reading 🙂

Fixed – good eye!
You said not to pay more for the Echo…. What if it is cheaper? The XCaliber Echo Star F2 is only 8 bucks vs the regular star F2 for 12.
I need a new beefy forehand driver…. And only buy F2s cuz i scrub the stamps anyways.
So save the 4 bucks and buy Echo Star?
Totally!
$8 is a STEAL …
Is that on the Factory Store website?
West Coast innova. Don’t buy them all, i gotta wait for a good f2 Friday.
That’s a sweet steal, if you can nab it …
$8 is unreal.
