The MVP Glitch is a wildly misunderstood disc

I’m not a Glitch guy.

I’m glad it exists, though.

And that it’s so popular, too.

I’ve harped on this before, so I won’t waste much of my breath on it again: The greater disc golf industry is obsessed with overstable plastic. The pros throw it, so amateurs follow suit. It’s nice to see a stable disc get some widespread, commercial love. And a lid-like thrower, if you can believe it. You’ll notice, however, I didn’t label the Glitch an “understable” disc …

This was intentional.

But first, let me back up a bit.

The MVP Glitch is a lightweight approach putter with unreal glide. It’s not a far-flying frisbee, but with little energy injected into it, relatively speaking, it’ll go places. Naturally, it’s good for getting up-and-down, short drives, long putts and playing catch to get loose before a round.

Capeesh?

However, the wires in disc golfers’ brains must’ve gotten crossed in the run-up to the disc’s release, because for some odd reason, the Glitch has a reputation for being a true understable flier: A slow, hyzer-flip machine of epic proportions – keeping with the theme of snail’s-pace, lid-looking putters, almost as if it were a more modern version of the Sonic, Birdie or Polecat.

Nope.

Are you at all intrigued by the Glitch?

The MVP Glitch: Neutron Soft Plastic

Jot this down:

It’s not flippy.

Forgive the overused disc-descriptor, but it’s an “any-angle-you-put-it-on” golf frisbee. In other words, whether intentional or not, it’ll do what your arm tells it to do, but without going very far. Remember: The Glitch is a speed-one putter (gasp) with an out-of-this-world glide of seven.

Don’t be fooled, though …

She’s got some bite.

Seriously, here’s a time-stamped clip of Simon Lizotte throwing a turnover with the Glitch. You know, that guy who just so happens to be one of the farthest-throwing disc golfers on Earth.

“Holy (over)stable!”

His words. Not mine.

Yes, much like every other mold in existence, Glitches differ in terms of stability. I’ve reviewed this disc myself, though. And while my arm’s a wet napkin compared to Simon’s, my experience was similar. If you’re intent on adding a legit hyzer-flip throwing putter to your disc golf bag, the Glitch ain’t it. Instead, sticking within the MVPAxiom lineup, opt for the Spin or Proxy.

They’ll both get you what you want.

Is the Glitch a great disc?

No doubt about it.

But for as well-marketed as the Glitch was, its stability got lost in translation.

Know what you buy. Love what you buy.

Build a better bag because of it.

    • Thrown the Glitch.

      Reviewed the Glitch.

      Don’t BAG the Glitch, though.

And if she readily flips for you, even better!

Hyzer-flip that thing like there’s no tomorrow 🙂

  1. Crazy you write this one now as I just got my first glitch as a gift a few days ago. I’ve been thoroughly surprised and impressed so far. I’m pretty much an Innova fan boy like you but the glitch is going in the bag bc it’s just so versatile. I agree with your take on the stability as the first thing I tried to do was hyzer flip it. The glide is definitely the selling point here. I’m a taller guy who plays in the tight woods a lot. There are many times I can’t get a full swing in unless I want to bang elbows with some trees. The glitch just needs the subtlest flick and away she flies. Love it. Playing catch with it is a blast. This is such a fun disc and I now fully get the hype.

  2. Not a glitch fan. Me and my two brothers go play fairly often and we all three bought them because of the hype. None of us actually throw them. We will have what we call a glitch off every so often where we basically pick an object and do a CTP for a cash bet. Other than that don’t like them won’t use them. And mine definitely don’t flip

    • Yeah, it’s not for everybody …

Sounds like the two of us have had a similar experience.

      The glide is dynamite, though.

For that alone, many people probably love it.

It’s fun to try out the “hyped” stuff, every now and again.

  3. “Stable”, maybe, sorta. Reliable and useful at 155g, not so much. Try a 168-180g Yikun Claws and let’s revisit this. It’s a far better Glitch, especially if you can find one in premium plastic. They exist. Even my beat base line 168g has just as much stability as a Glitch though, if not more.

    • Appreciate the tip for everyone, Dudeness!

I’ve heard of the Yikun Claws, but never thrown one …

I’ll be sure to check it out in the new year 🙂

  4. Yeah this is all nonsense. I’ve thrown the glitch a dang lot of times and there’s zero question it’s a flipper with any power put into it. It will flip the Glide right on any flat rhbh shot with any amount of power.

Author, you do not know what you are talking about but whatever. Maybe you can’t flip the one you have, I dunno, but I have 7 different glitches and every dang one flips to Glide right on the flat rhbh.

It’s not a heiser flipper to flex, no question, but it will never come back from the rhbh. Ever.

  5. I’m starting to think that all of y’all guys that are flipping glitches are also the guys that can flip a star destroyer but can’t throw 350′

  6. The Glitch is a tupperware lid MVP managed to get PDGA approved. It’s a 150 gram, unreliable, super touchy, beach toy that doesn’t belong on the golf course. Yeah, I said that. And I’ll say it again if asked.
