The Ledgestone Open is an incredible Elite Series event.
What you might not know about it, however, is that the tournament moves discs, too. And I’m not referring to some random, pop-up tent that pushes plastic on spectators. Ledgestone’s got an online shop, warehouse, employees and enough inventory to outfit the U.S. Army with frisbees.
It’s a Discraft-lover’s delight.
Though a bonafide, money-making enterprise, a portion of earnings are funneled into the bank accounts of Team Discraft members to help them fund their touring efforts. Furthermore, much of the store’s profits are used to make Ledgestone one of the world’s premier disc golf events.
Northwood Black ain’t cheap.
Given the success of Ledgestone’s shop, another big-name D.G. gig had to follow suit …
Similar to Ledgestone, the LWS Open at Idlewild knows how to put on a disc golf tournament. Now, with an online storefront of its own, Burlington’s brightest is looking to make a name in the retail game. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, though – do well what matters most:
- Goal No. 1 – Get players paid.
- Goal No. 2 – Improve the event.
It’s where Team Idlewild DIFFERS from Ledgestone that makes the story …
For starters, where Ledgestone has Discraft, Team Idlewild has Trilogy. But instead of carrying regular, run-of-the-mill stock discs like most retailers, Team Idlewild specializes in unique, one-of-a-kind disc designs – many of which can be found atop out-of-production molds.
Remember when Dynamic Discs pulled production of the Suspect?
Currently, Team Idlewild not only carries it, but has in stock the Lucid Ice-Glimmer version of the forgotten midrange with eight cool, player-inspired stamps: Matt Orum, Paige Shue, Kona Panis, Zach Melton, Chris Clemons, Gavin Rathbun, Ricky Wysocki and Valerie Mandujano.
All stamps are produced in limited quantities to create scarcity and keep the site fresh.
* Note: There are stock discs on the site, as well, but not many – that’s not the point.
Relatively new to the e-commerce grind, Team Idlewild doesn’t (yet) offer a wide variety of molds from Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64 and Westside Discs – rest assured, that will change.
Still, if you’re a Trilogy fan, you’ve GOT to check out Team Idlewild.
Proceed with caution, though …
Your wallet’s in grave danger.
