Where has Green Splatter been the past 12 days?

Virtually nobody is going to read this article …

Or take an interest in it, at least.

I get it.

I’m cool with it, too.

One of the biggest benefits of consistent blogging is that you create a timeline of sorts – and without even trying, really. In the grand scheme of things, most of the stuff on Green Splatter is of little importance – this is disc golf, for crying out loud. Every now and again, however, miraculously, something of actual worth makes its way into the publication queue.

Green Splatter’s 12-day silence was one of those things …

My third son was born.

Oran Dennis Miller.

His two older brothers are named Washington and Plínio. And no, that’s not a typo – that second one’s a multi-generational family name. My wife’s a dual citizen of the United States and Brazil.

Here’s Washington with Oran:

Green Splatter: Washington Wilco Miller

And here’s Plínio with the little guy, as well:

Green Splatter: Plínio Eagle Miller

#LongHairDontCare

If the two of them look young and the same age, it’s because they are – they’re both two years and four months old. And wouldn’t you know it, they act like it, as well. The early, unexpected arrival of Oran meant daily articles needed a two-ish week pause for life to make sense again.

If yours is a family with twins, triplets or an army of young children who are (accidentally) far too close in age, you know routine is everything. As such, I spent 12 days enjoying my boys, supporting my wife’s speedy recovery and attempting to find some semblance of normalcy.

DGPT: The 2023 United States Disc Golf Championship

Yes, there are other Green Splatter peeps who could’ve stepped in to fill the silence, but like it or not, my fingerprints are all over this blog. Knowing myself, temporarily turning operations entirely over to others would’ve hindered my ability to focus on what matters most …

Family stuff.

If God had listened to me, Oran’s arrival wouldn’t have aligned with USDGC and the DGPT Championship, but he’s here, and along with his mother, he’s healthy – no complaints.

Remember: Some things are bigger than disc golf.

This includes writing about it.

Your patience was (and is) much appreciated.

Rest assured, Green Splatter will be back with another post tomorrow – and in perpetuity.

Onwards and upwards.

  1. Congratulations!!!
Family is far more important, family more than disc golf or any other activity that pulls us in so many directions. All the boys are happy and your wife is blessed to have you exactly where she needed you to be, by her side.

    • Keep it to yourself man. You don’t have to ruin these great articles for everyone else. Go throw your bag in a river. It is OKAY if somebody who is giving you awesome free articles to take a break. Thanks for the update Mr. Miller and congrats!

  3. No Boomer Sooner, sorry…
Long story short, when younger and playing baseball, I would hit the ball and “Boom” would come out of my mouth. The guys either called me boom or boomer. It stuck, although not unique since there are so many Boomers out there born from 1946-1964. Cheers!!!

  4. Congrats!
We have 8 kids, including a set of twins and I’ve never regretted spending more time with them. The youngest is a keen disc golfer and the third oldest got me into disc golf.

    • Congrats, James!

It’s always nice to speak with someone who’s had newborn twins before …

      It’s a fraternity.

One of pain, but still – it’s a fraternity.

(we’re all a bit better at life than everybody else)
