Disc golf news: Ricky Wysocki frustrated fans report Dynamic Discs sponsorship, proceeds to sign with Dynamic Discs

This was definitely one of those things I did not have on my Bingo card this off-season …

I don’t know what’s in the water in Emporia, but for some odd, inexplicable reason, Ricky Wysocki was visibly (and repeatedly) bothered by fans on Twitter who – weeks before the announcement was made – per “sources,” reported he’d leave Innova for Dynamic Discs.

And wouldn’t you know it, that’s exactly what happened:

In case you’ve somehow managed to miss everything going on in the wildest off-season in disc golf history, Wysocki prematurely cut ties with Innova to return to Trilogy – more specifically, Dynamic Discs.

The specifics of Rick’s deal aren’t too shabby, to say the least:

  • 4 years.
  • $4 million guaranteed.
  • Incentives and bonuses in play.
  • $250,000 signing bonus – paid out in bitcoin.

An important side note, the $1 million annual salary matches Paul McBeth’s as the highest ever.

Back to the matter at hand – fans and their reporting on Wysocki’s deal from the comfort of the living room sofa. No, “Raptor Legs” wasn’t belligerent over the rumors floating around about his future, but the fact that the famous “per sources” line was being dropped seemed to get to him.

You know, things like this that actually turned out to be true:

Making matters worse, most of the time, be it on Twitter, Instagram or Reddit, fans were right about Ricky and the D.D. connection. With the cat out of the bag before Rick had even boarded the helicopter, the heat was strong enough that it prompted him to fire off the following:

Leave Shefty out of this, Mr. Sockibomb.

And if you think this is just me pulling a story out of thin air, the “sources” stuff was enough of a bother that Jordan Castro felt the need to come to Wysocki’s defense after the announcement:

Being the champion that he is, though, Ricky could laugh at himself once all was said and done. Albeit with a massive grammatical error, but we’ll chalk that up to in-the-moment excitement:

You stay classy, disc golf Twitter.

Have anything to add? Take to Twitter to let us know – we’ll actually (for real) get back to you.
