Ricky Wysocki owns one of the top disc golf videos on YouTube

The pandemic was the Wild West of disc golf YouTube.

Due to outright boredom, creativity was at an all-time high. As you might recall, Simon Lizotte led the charge with his 10-foot challenge. It caught on with the greater disc golf community on YouTube. Itching to compete, both amateurs and professionals alike, everybody took part.

However, somewhat overshadowed by the whole “Simon Challenge” craze was a video Ricky Wysocki released on his YouTube channel around the same time amidst the COVID outbreak.

A long-time fan of Rick’s content, the algorithm made sure my eyes saw it shortly after it dropped. Upon seeing the title and thumbnail, I 100% remember thinking to myself …

“This is the dumbest idea ever.”

Boy, was I wrong …

It was brilliant.

Entitled, “Ricky Raptor Round!” you don’t need an Ivy-League degree to figure out the premise of the video. It’s Rick throwing 18 holes in one of those inflatable T-Rex Halloween costumes.

There’s (kind of) merit to the seemingly random content idea, as Wysocki is often referred to as “Raptor Legs” on the Pro Tour. This is because of the unique way he frequently “runs in” putts from long distance. It’s a messier, wacky-looking version of a high-knees workout, really.

Check it out:

Whether in cartoons or during a grade-school documentary, I don’t recall ever seeing a T-Rex run like that, but hey – the nickname stuck, and I’m not a paleontologist, so what do I know?

It works.

No joke, this video is a total riot. It’s funnier than you’d think it’d be. I’ve always considered my sense of humor to be somewhat sophisticated. I don’t do profanity, fart jokes or potty humor. But literally, five seconds into this thing, I found myself chuckling like a pre-teen schoolgirl …

Ricky faceplants.

Outside of actual event coverage, it’s one of my favorite YouTube viddies:

And then, of course …

This one.

People love to laugh at the T-Rex for the ridiculously tiny arms it has attached to a terrifying body, but little do they know its true comedic calling is found in frisbee-flinging

Who would’ve thought?

Ricky.

That’s who.

I don’t know Mr. Wysocki, but this video alone makes him seem equal parts goofy and relatable, not to mention great at disc golf. Yes, he might be a devout “cart guy,” but anybody who can bring this kind of slap-happy madness to life on my smartphone earns a lifetime of support.

Go get ‘em, Rick.

Watch out for asteroids.

    • There’s just something about Ricky introducing a hole from inside a Raptor costume that’s hilarious …

      Such a dumb idea.

      Such brilliant execution. Haha.

      Glad you liked it 🙂
